In Maine, probate is typically required for most estates, especially when real estate or significant personal property is involved. Probate may not be needed if all assets are jointly owned or have designated beneficiaries.
How long does the probate process take?
The timeline for probate varies based on the estate’s complexity. Most cases take between 6-12 months, but larger or contested estates may take longer. Working with experienced legal counsel can help expedite the process.
